STATEMENT OF OUR SHARED VALUES

The San Diego Symphony Orchestra Association deeply appreciates the generosity and support of our donors. The Symphony is committed to fostering a welcoming environment where all individuals feel respected and valued. This commitment is rooted in our core values, which are:
STRIVE – Always the Best
LEARN – Creative, Expressive, Curious
REACH – Music for Everyone
IGNITE – Spark Passion
In this spirit of “Music For Everyone,” we ask our supporters to follow the Symphony’s Statement of Our Shared Values:

Respect and Courtesy for All

  • All attendees, staff, musicians, and fellow donors will treat each other with kindness, respect, and professionalism.
  • We support a welcoming environment free from any discrimination or sexual harassment.
  • We will maintain a decorum that reflects positively on the Symphony and ourselves, refraining from disruptive behavior, excessive consumption of alcohol, or any actions or language that could make others uncomfortable.
  • We will follow all venue policies, including safety protocols, seating arrangements, and event schedules.
  • We will respect the physical spaces at all Symphony venues, ensuring no damage is done to property or equipment.
  • We will be mindful of photography and recording policies set by the Symphony and venue.
  • We will obtain consent before taking or sharing photos of other guests.
  • If you witness or experience any inappropriate behavior, please report it to event staff or an organization representative promptly.
  • All reports will be handled with discretion and appropriate action will be taken.

Engagement with the Symphony and its Representatives

  • We will follow appropriate channels for feedback or complaints.
  • Contributions to a nonprofit organization are voluntary and are not considered a purchase of a product or service.
  • Conditions on donations cannot be made for personal benefit — whether for yourself, family or friends.
  • Gifts to the Symphony do not grant one a position on the SDSOA Board nor give any undue influence over the Symphony’s leadership or operations.
  • We will support and not hinder the Symphony’s core mission.

Following our Shared Values

We all share responsibility in following the Symphony’s values. In the unfortunate event that any individual does not follow our shared values as laid out above, this may result in removal from programs, events, restriction from future events, or other appropriate actions as determined by the Symphony. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us foster a respectful and positive environment for all.

Thank you for your support and commitment to upholding the Symphony’s values. We look forward to sharing meaningful experiences with you at our concerts and events!
