RADY SHELL TICKETING:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Ticket Questions

Subscription ticket QR codes are delivered digitally via The Shell mobile app or, upon request, can be printed and delivered via US Mail. Subscription tickets purchased prior to June 1 will be delivered no later than two weeks prior to the start of the summer season.

Children age 2 and older must have a valid ticket for entry for San Diego Symphony-produced concerts at The Rady Shell. Rental producers may have differing age guidelines for their rental events at The Rady Shell - check the Calendar Event page for further details.

Summer subscription packages will include a $30 fee for all tickets in the subscription package, as well as any add-on tickets purchased in the same transaction. Individual concert tickets will include a $5 facility fee and a variable handling fee, based on the ticket price.

FOLLOW THIS LINK for app download instructions.

Individual concert ticket orders are recorded in The Shell mobile app immediately upon purchase, and the actual ticket QR code for entry is usually viewable immediately. Exceptions may include unseated subscription seats and an artist-requested reduction in the QR code viewing window.

Tickets can usually be transferred to others via The Shell mobile app. FOLLOW THIS LINK for instructions. Certain special ticket offers may specify that tickets can only be forwarded once, or in some cases not at all.

Print at home tickets and/or screenshots will not be admissible for entry to The Rady Shell.

Tickets purchased via third-party websites are valid for entry if they can appear via the Rady Shell app. No printed tickets from non-Symphony sources are valid for entry. In all cases, the validity of tickets is only guaranteed for tickets purchased via official San Diego Symphony channels.

Look for a Summer Subscriptions link on the homepage of the Rady Shell website.

Seating

There is Lawn seating in the Mission Fed Community Green available for almost all Symphony-produced concerts at The Rady Shell, with excellent visibility at the crest of our terraced seating area. These seat places are limited to a certain number (300-900) per concert and tend to go quickly. (Note: Rental concerts and events may not necessarily have Lawn seating available. Check the concert listing for details.)

In general, low-profile lawn chairs and blankets will be allowed in this section; however, there will be restrictions for certain concerts in larger seating configurations, such as a General Admission Standing Pit up front. Please check the Calendar Event page to prepare for your experience. There will never be folding chairs available to rent at the venue, but blankets will be available for purchase if you don’t bring your own.

Seating options are expanded at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park to include two-top “couples” seating ("Parkside Section") plus a six-top terrace of tables perfect for groups and corporate entertaining ("San Diego Row" - call for details). Familiar four-top ("Marina") and single seat seating ("Bridgeview") from previous seasons will also be available. All chairs have bottom and back cushioning.

Lawn seating in the Mission Fed Community Green is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. This applies to subscribers and single ticket buyers of Lawn seats alike - though subscribers are assured of seating if they have reserved in advance of single ticket sales. The gates of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park concert site open at 5:30pm on concert days in summer, or 90 minutes before showtime in other parts of the year. Bring your own blanket or folding chair for the seating on the Green! (The concert site does not sell folding chairs, but blankets are always available for sale in the Rady Shell Gift Booth.)

Subscribers may exchange a limited number of concerts in their subscription package by contacting the Ticket Office. Individual concert tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded. All sales are final.

(Rady Shell box office is available for window sales from 12noon to intermission only on concert event days, including Saturday/Sunday.)

Please e-mail tickets@sandiegosymphony.org with your inquiry and a ticket office representative will reply as quickly as possible. To contact by phone, please call 619-235-0804. Wait times can be lengthy, making email the most efficient method of contacting a ticket office representative.

All concerts at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park will take place, rain or shine. In the rare event of a concert cancellation at the Embarcadero (has only happened once in the past 25 years), notice will be posted on the Rady Shell homepage, www.theshell.org, and ticketholders will subsequently be contacted for refunds or credit.

The Rady Shell box office can service Jacobs Music Center ticketing (and vice-versa), but there is no waiving of handling fees at the Rady Shell or JMC windows.
